Zoo

The Prince of Wales Zoo has been re-christened as the Lucknow Prani Udyan in recent times. With some of the rarest species of animals among whom the giraffe is the latest addition, the zoo is one of the favourite picnic spots of the city folk. You'll find lots of green spaces here. Famous for its hukkoo monkey, the zoo has a train ride for children that they absolutely love. It also houses the museum in its precincts where the 'mummy' is a star attraction. And talking about stars, actress Raveena Tandon has also been aboard the train in the zoo! In the pipeline here is the Nature Preservation Centre that is going to provide valuable information to visitors.

 

Dilkusha Garden

Set away from the din of the city, Dilkusha Gardens is not just a picnic spot; it's a monument that has sadly not been tended to the way it should have been. A run down structure that continues to impress artists and archaeologists with what it must have been once upon a time, lends a quaint charm to the place. Spread across a large expanse of land, the gardens merge with the greenery of the Cantt area, where it is located. It serves as one of the favourite dating spots for youngsters in the city.

 

Indira Dam

It's a place that's unique in itself: a canal that flows over a river. The sight of the water gushing with such great force is awesome, an experience that can't be missed. So while you watch the water flow below you, it's difficult to resist the thrill that it gives you. Perhaps not the best of picnic spots, the place, however, is worth the miles that you have to cross to reach there. But if the canal is dry, it could well turn into a damp squib. Located far from the city, you'll come across many Chinhat pottery shops on the way that could entice you to stop and indulge in a wee bit of shopping.

 

Kukrail

Kukrail is situated in Indiar Nagar. This is a good place to spend the whole day with your family and loved ones. Basically it was developed for the preservation of Crocodiles, Gharial. The forest is spread in very wide area. It is well maintained by forest departments. In this forest you can enjoy the beauty of lush green ground, lovely flowers, and lots of traditional Jhoolas for children. In a picnic mood you can carry different type of outdoor games lke Badminton, Flying Disc, Tennis Ball Cricket, due to the vast spread ground really you will enjoy to p[lay it there. To enjoy the maximum in this beautiful forest it will be much better to go in a large group. It will be much better if you will carry yours lunch with you to enjoy it there. If you want to go in some romantic mood then also it is the right place for you as the wide spread area will provide you the enough privacy to share your moments in light mood. In the forest area there is on canteen also from where you can take Cold Drinks, Coffee, Tea and light refreshments. As it is not directly connected with any type of public conveyance, so it will be better to go with your own conveyance or any hired conveyance by which you can return at yours place.

 

Shaheed Smarak

Shaheed Smarak is a very different kind of picnic spot. It is built on the memory of freedom fighters, that's why it is called Shaheed Smarak. It is situated between Daliganj Bridge and Begum Hazrat Mahal Crossing. Public conveyance for this place is easily available. It is built on the bank of river Gomti. There is a white pillar standing as a tribute o the freedom fighters. This place is having maintained river bank to enjoy and spend a Sunny day in winters or an beautiful evening in the summers. Here boats are also available, so you can enjoy boating also. The advantage of this place is that it is not much crowded, so you can take care of yours privacy also.
